Today, we bid farewell to one of the greatest basketball players in history - Carmelo Anthony

After an incredible career spanning 17 seasons and 10 All-Star appearances, Melo has announced his retirement from the NBA. 

Carmelo Anthony entered the league as a highly touted prospect out of Syracuse University in 2003.

 He quickly made an impact with his scoring prowess and was named Rookie of The Year for that season. 

From there he went on to have a Hall Of Fame worthy career, becoming one of only six players ever to score 25000 points during their time in the NBA; joining some legendary names like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Michael Jordan on this prestigious list. 

Throughout his time playing professional basketball he was known for being not just an outstanding scorer but also a great leader both on and off court who inspired others through charitable activities such as founding "The Carmelo Anthony Foundation". 

This foundation helped children affected by poverty get access to educational resources they needed which is something that will always be remembered about him long after today's announcement retires him from competition permanently..  

 His legacy will live beyond what he achieved while playing professionally – it’s all about how much inspiration people can draw from his journey: rising up against all odds despite coming from humble beginnings growing up in Baltimore Maryland USA., making it big at college level before going onto become one most prolific scorers ever seen!  

It goes without saying that when you look back at some amazing moments throughout Melo's illustrious career such as winning gold medal with Team USA or carrying Denver Nuggets into playoffs single handedly–you can't help but feel sad knowing these days are now behind us yet still so proud seeing how far someone could come based solely upon hard work & dedication towards achieving greatness!

Carmelo Anthony is one of the most recognizable names in all of professional basketball. 

He has been a star player for more than fifteen years and continues to be an important part of the NBA today. 

From his humble beginnings as a high school phenom, Carmelo has gone on to become one of the greatest players in league history. 

Born on May 29th, 1984 in Brooklyn, New York, Carmelo Anthony was raised by his mother Mary who worked hard to make sure her son had every opportunity available to him growing up. 

She pushed him academically and athletically which led him being recruited by Syracuse University where he would go on have success both on and off the court during his freshman year leading them to their first National Championship title since 2003 that same season! 

In 2003 he declared for entry into NBA draft at just 19-years-old becoming third overall pick selected by Denver Nuggets where he would spend eight seasons with team before joining New York Knicks 2011–2012 season making it homecoming return back East Coast playing hometown fans!  In 2017 after brief stints Oklahoma City Thunder Houston Rockets signed free agent deal with Portland Trail Blazers 2018–2019 campaign starting new chapter career journey towards winning championship ring! Since then continued contribute teams success averaging 15+ points per game helping lead Blazers deep playoff runs each year including Western Conference Finals 2019/2020 seasons respectively showing world still got what takes compete highest levels despite age 37+.
