The Colorado Avalanche are headed to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Semifinals after a convincing 4-1 win over the Seattle
Kraken on Monday night. The Avs were led by two goals from Nathan MacKinnon and one each from Gabriel Landeskog and Tyson Jost, while goaltender Philipp Grubauer made 23 saves in net for his fifth win of the playoffs.
The Avalanche put together a complete team effort in this game, scoring three unanswered goals after falling behind 1-0 early in the first period. They outshot Seattle 32-24 throughout regulation time, with their power play unit coming up big late as they scored twice on four opportunities with an extra man advantage.
Colorado has now forced Game 7 thanks to their strong performance at home tonight; it marks just the second time since 1996 that they have reached this stage of playoff hockey without needing more than six games to do so (the other being during their run to winning it all two years ago).
With both teams having split wins at home thus far, we can look forward to an exciting finish when these clubs meet again Wednesday evening!
without a fight!
The Colorado Avalanche are headed to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Semifinals, and fans across the state are thrilled!
After a hard-fought series against the Dallas Stars, the Avs have managed to force a decisive game that will determine their fate.
It's been an incredible run for this team who was not even expected to make it out of Round 1.
Led by Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar on offense, as well as Philipp Grubauer in goal, they've put together impressive performances night after night.
They’ve faced adversity with injuries throughout these playoffs but still found ways to win games when it mattered most. The entire roster has come together both on and off ice which is why they find themselves in this position today - one win away from advancing into their first Stanley Cup Finals since 2001!
It won't be easy though; facing off against Dallas again will be no small task for Colorado given how evenly matched these two teams have been so far during this series.
But if anyone can do it then surely its them – with talent all over their lineup plus plenty of experience under playoff pressure there’s no telling what might happen in Game 7 tomorrow night at Pepsi Center!
